The Director of Youth Ministries oversees a ministry to help every youth (6-12 grade)
grow in Christian faith and experience deeper maturity in Christ.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with youth and adult leaders in a team ministry setting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Willing and able to support and work within the mission, vision, values, and focus of FUMCG as well as within the doctrinal standards of the UMC
- Able to work with diverse personalities
- Experience and desire to embody a holistic approach to youth ministry that includes worship, fellowship, study, service, and outreach
- Ability to be effective in conflict resolution
- Ability to counsel parents and students in crisis situations
- Must pass a background check
- Ability to drive van (CDL not required)
Responsibilities:
- Weekly youth group gathering (currently Sunday afternoons)
- Recruit, train, inspire, coach adult youth leaders
- Regular communication with youth and families
- Participate in staff meetings and regular church events and gatherings as able
- Coordinate trips such as Pilgrimage, Breakaway
- Keep all contact, medical and special concern info for each youth
- Maintain compliance documents (background checks, Safe Sanctuaries, etc)
- Personal contact with each youth/family
- Follow-up plan for visitors and new-comers
- Maintain Event notebooks and calendars

- Are well-organized and can delegate
- Relate well with youth and their parents
- Work well building and leading teams
Salary Range:
$12,000 -$15,000 annual
